Raspberry Mint Julep
Looking to put a fruity twist on the classic Mint Julep? This raspberry version is just what you need. Made with raspberry jam and following the LFE diet, this cocktail is bursting with sweet and tart flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. It's easy to make and perfect for enjoying on a warm day.
1.5 oz bourbon
1 tsp Raspberry Jam (recipe below)
2 large basil leaves
- 1 large basil sprig for garnish
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
2 cups raspberries
- 1/3 cup organic cane sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
Raspberry Jam (makes 2 cups)
To Make Raspberry Jam:
To make the jam, mash berries, lemon juice and sugar in a small saucepan with a potato masher until it turns into a raspberry sugar slush. Cook over low heat, stirring every few minutes until the mixture thickens, about 15 minutes.
To Make Cocktail:
Muddle the bourbon, raspberry jam, and 2 basil leaves. Add a dash of Angostura bitters and top with ice. Garnish with a basil sprig.
