Who doesn’t love a savory brunch? We know we do! But if you suffer from Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) or IBS, or know someone who does, preparing a SIBO safe meal while still appealing to a crowd can be stressful. The good news is, when following the Low Fermentation Eating (LFE) diet, you don’t need to sacrifice flavor, and you can be confident that your dishes are still free of SIBO & IBS triggers.

To help you prepare for your next brunch, we’ve handpicked several of our favorite recipes from The Good LFE Cookbook – each of these recipes is delicious and satisfying, while still following the LFE diet.

From savory egg dishes to sweet treats, there are plenty of options that will please your taste buds and help you stay symptom-free. Whether you’re hosting a big family gathering or enjoying a quiet meal at home, these recipes are sure to delight.

Protein Pancakes with Blueberry Compote

Somewhere between a pancake and a crêpe, these thin vanilla-scented treats are a crowd pleaser. They reheat and freeze beautifully if you happen to have any leftovers. Add an extra ¼ cup almond milk to make extra-thin crêpes.

Deviled Eggs with Everything Spice

A brunch favorite, we keep them simple with a little touch of Everything Spice on top. The filling can be spooned or piped in. If you are making them ahead of time, keep the filling separate from the whites until the day you are serving them to keep the filling from getting runny.

Prosciutto with Melon

When cantaloupe is in season and ripe, this is one of the easiest and most delicious ways to enjoy it. The contrast of the salty ham and the sweet melon makes this a classic appetizer you’ll serve over and over.

Please note: those with SIBO should limit melon to a serving size of 1 cup.

Rosemary & Olive Oil Lamb Chops

Lemony sumac balances the gaminess of the lamb. Great with salsa verde or herb salad, these can be a quick weeknight dinner or dinner party fare. Make sure to remove any garlic before grilling as it will burn. As for the rosemary, enjoy crispy bits in each bite, but if you would like something more refined, remove the rosemary before grilling.

Chewy Meringues & Lemon Curd

The classic solution to using both the whites and yolks of eggs is a custard pie topped with meringue. This deconstructed crustless version gives you a sweet meringue that is crispy outside with a chewy, marshmallow interior, all balanced by tart lemon curd. I actually like this curd made with ghee better than the traditional recipes that use butter. A little lighter and more fresh tasting—letting the lemon shine through.

Grapefruit Mint Caipiroska

Based on a popular Brazilian cocktail, but made with vodka, the caipiroska has a lighter and more straightforward flavor profile. Don’t skimp on the muddle, it’s important to draw out the oils in the grapefruit and mint for a full hit of flavor.
